Cops: DUI Woman Hit Firehouse With SUV; Hole In Building

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- An SUV crashed into a firehouse early Friday morning in Northwest Washington, police said. 

It happened around 4:18 a.m. when a female driving a Ford Explorer ran into the firehouse at 1617 U Street NW leaving a large hole where she hit the house and causing structural damage to the building, police said.

"Neither she or anyone inside the firehouse were injured, however police determined that she was under the influence of a controled substance aka drugs," police said.

The woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and driving without a permit, police said.
