On Saturday morning, June 25, Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. held one of several workshop/seminars it’s having this summer addressing not only the basics, but also some of the finer aspects of home remodeling and expansion. 

This particular workshop, led by Case Design/Remodeling Executive VP Bill Millholland, focused on gaining space in your existing home, whether through converting an attic or screened-in porch into living space, or by actually building a new addition. Case highlights the attic and porch conversions as the least expensive options, but barring water issues or ceiling height problems, finishing a basement can be a cost-effective transformation as well, maximizing the existing space in your home.

UrbanTurf posted a great article yesterday about the new PN Hoffman condo project at 14th and R.

"The project is set to have around 34 units and a 1,500 square-foot retail space on the ground floor," writes Mark Wellborn of UrbanTurf.  "UrbanTurf learned a little bit more about the project at a Wednesday night ANC 2F meeting where PN Hoffman and architect Eric Colbert presented their plans and requested support for zoning exemptions."

Yet another housing addition around the U Street Corridor.

The Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is organizing a Tenant Celebration, Talent Show, and Competition Cook-off at Trinity AME Zion Church from 6:30-9:00 pm tonight, Friday, January 28 to celebrate victories won by local tenant associations in 2010 to preserve affordable housing in the District of Columbia and make the case for why city officials should make affordable housing a priority in 2011.
